Inter-regional preparatory meetings
Council 2024 and 2025 agreed on strengthening the inter-regional preparatory process and on holding inter-regional preparatory meetings as follows:
- The 1st informal inter-regional preparatory meeting for PP-26 was held on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, from 13.00 to 14.30 at ITU Headquarters + hybrid (during the CWG cluster). It was chaired by the PP-26 Chair-designate, Mr Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani. All of the regional groups were represented and gave presentations on the preparations in their regions (APT, LAS, ATU, CEPT, CITEL, RCC), as well as Cuba. The ITU secretariat and the Host Country also shared the status of their preparations.
- The 2nd meeting was held on Thursday, 30 April 2026, from 13.00 to 14.30 at ITU headquarters + hybrid (during Council-26). It was chaired by the PP-26 Chair-designate, Mr Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani. All of the regional groups were represented and gave presentations on the preparations in their regions (APT, LAS, ATU, CEPT, CITEL, RCC), as well as Cuba. The ITU secretariat and the Host Country also shared the status of their preparations.
- The 3rd meeting was held on Thursday, 3 September 2026 from 13.00 to 14.30 in Nassau + hybrid (during WTPF-26). It was chaired by the PP-26 Chair-designate, Mr Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani. All of the regional groups were represented and gave presentations on the preparations in their regions (APT, LAS, ATU, CEPT, CITEL, RCC), as well as Cuba. The ITU secretariat and the Host Country also shared the status of their preparations. The Chair-designate shared his draft proposal on conduct of meetings.
- The 4th meeting was held on 13 October 2026, after the deadline for submission of candidatures (12 October 2026 at 23.59 Geneva time), virtually. It was chaired by the PP-26 Chair-designate, Mr Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani. All of the regional groups were represented. The secretariat and the Host Country shared updated on preparations.
